Sol extends lead with tie

[WPS] The Los Angeles Sol came from behind to tie the Chicago Red Stars, 1-1, and extend its lead at the top of Women's Professional Soccer to nine points. The first midweek game in WPS history drew an announced crowd of only 3,832 on a cold and cloudy evening at the Home Depot Center.

Swedish goalkeeper Caroline Jonsson again came up big for the Red Stars, stopping shots by Camile Abily and Marta, and was almost rewarded with a victory.

After numerous chances from each side, the Red Stars got on the board in the 88th minute when Brazilian Cristiane scored the first goal Sol goalkeeper Karina LeBlanc has given up in five games.

But the Sol equalized in the 90th minute when Marta's attempt from outside the box bounced off the left post and right to the feet of Abily, who scored.
