Mexico returns to the friendly confines of Azteca Stadium after losing its fourth straight qualifier on the road.
The Tri faces
Trinidad & Tobago Wednesday in Mexico City in a battle of the last two teams in Concacaf's World Cup 2010 qualifying group.
Big changes are expected after Mexico's 2-1 loss at El
Salvador on Saturday, most notably in midfield where Pavel Pardo
and Gerardo Torrado
are suspended. Oscar Perez
was Mexico's third goalie in its four Hexagonal matches, and he could be replaced by Guillermo Ochoa
Other changes should be Carlos Salcido
's return to the starting lineup from suspension at right back
In midfield, Israel Castro
of champion UNAM should get the start, but there are doubts about the fitness of Cuauhtemoc Blanco
and Nery Castillo
Of perhaps more importance to the USA's hopes of qualifying for South Africa is Wednesday's other Hexagonal match between Honduras and El Salvador. A tie
or El Salvador win would very much be the USA's interest. Julio Cesar de Leon
will return to the Honduran lineup after missing the Catrachos'
2-1 loss to the USA because of suspension.
U.S. referee Baldomero Toledo
will be in charge of the match at the Stadio Olimpico Metropolitano
in San Pedro Sula.
