The New England Revolution entered Sunday's match against Atlas with a chance to clinch advancement in the SuperLiga with either a win or a draw at home. An already battered squad, the Revs ost Mike Videira to a red-card suspension. Local product Nico Colaluca stepped into Videira's spot to make his debut for the Revolution.

Deflecting Atlas pressure all night, the Revs hung on to a 1-0 win. The Revolution opened the scoring in the 32nd minute when winger Kenny Mansally received a nice pass from striker Kheli Dube to pound home a left footed effort. In the second half, Atlas poured pressure on the New England backline, but failed to produce a goal. Atlas' Gerardo Espinoza helped New England's cause when his sloppy challenge produced a red card, giving the Revs more breathing room towards the end of the game.

Able to kill off the game with more possession in the final minutes, New England finished atop Group B and hosts Chicago in the semifinal. Mexico's Santos finished second in Group B after thumping Kansas City, 3-1. Mexico's Tigres finished first in Group A, thanks to a 2-1 win over Chicago, and meets Santos the semis. The 1-1 Group A tie between Chivas USA and San Luis ensured that neither would advance.
