Hammerheads come down on Fire, 1-0

[U.S. OPEN CUP] Four-time U.S. Open Cup champion Chicago didn't get past the round of 16 this time around.

The Fire fell to the Wilmington Hammerheads, 1-0, Tuesday at Legion Stadium in Wilmington, N.C., on a goal by Kenny Bundy in the 37th minute.

Chicago fielded many of its regulars but was unable to answer that goal, scored when defender Tim Karalexis played a long ball that Bundy took past the Fire defense and shot past goalie Andrew Dykstra.

Wilmington, a USL-2 team, upset the USL-1 Carolina RailHawks in the second round and gets another USL-1 opponent, the Rochester Rhinos, in the quarterfinals to be played next week.
