Saturday, David Beckham
called Landon Donovan
"unprofessional" for attacking his professionalism in the new
book The Beckham Experiment
. On Monday, the Los Angeles teammates said they had made peace at a meeting with Coach Bruce
, allowing them to move forward in their bid to end the Galaxy's skid of three straight seasons without making the MLS playoffs.
"I'm not going to talk about
what was said," Beckham said. "That was between me, Landon and the manager [Arena] but we had a good talk."
Donovan, who had lost his role as Galaxy captain after
Beckham arrived from Real Madrid in 2007, had criticized Beckham's lack of commitment, in particular during its collapse during the second half of the 2008 MLS season.
"We're getting past it," said the U.S. star. "We're moving on. There's a lot of things I regret. I regret the way that I went about this process and I also regret some of
the things I said."
Donovan was quoted extensively in Grant Wahl
's book on the first two seasons with the Galaxy.
"There were no surprises," he said. "I'm generally a pretty honest person but that doesn't mean I need to share things with everybody."
The Galaxy has won
its last three games -- all by 1-0 scores. It faces the New York Red Bulls Thursday at Giants Stadium (TV: FSC, live, 8 pm ET).
