Fans give Beckham hostile reception [VIDEO]

[L.A. GALAXY-AC MILAN] An impressive performance by the Los Angeles in its 2-2 tie with Italian giant AC Milan Sunday was overshadowed by the hostile reception some Galaxy fans gave David Beckham, making his 2009 Galaxy debut at the Home Depot Center. The English star was greeted with boos from some in the capacity crowd of 27,000, became clearly irritated by the reception he got and even confronted some fans.

Beckham sprung Landon Donovan on a long cross for the Galaxy's tying goal when Alan Gordon scored after being fed by Donovan in the 29th minute, and the Englishman set up the second tying goal, sending a corner kick that Bryan Jordan headed home for the tying goal in the 65th minute.

Banners were unfurled opposing Beckham's return: "Go Home Fraud" with a line crossing out his jersey number 23 and "Here Before, Here After, Here Despite 23."

At halftime, security escorted Beckham away from an area where fans in the L.A. Riot Squad section were booing him.

"They were saying things that really weren't very nice," Beckham said. "There's always going to be a certain reaction. The majority of fans here wanted to watch the game and the great players and I think they enjoyed themselves."

As Beckham left in the second half, he drew a more positive but still mixed reception.

"I'm not disappointed because it doesn't affect me," he said of the boos. "At the end of the day you can't be liked by everybody."
