Timbers break unbeaten streak record

[USL-1] The Portland Timbers set a USL First Division record when they beat FC Miami, 3-0, Sunday to extend their unbeaten streak to 16 games, the longest single-season unbeaten streak ever.

The win lifted the Timbers into a tie at the top of the standings with the Puerto Rico Islanders at 34 points and sets up a showdown for sole possession of first place when the Islanders visit PGE Park on Thursday.

Forward George Josten and midfielder Keith Savage each scored six minutes apart in the second half, and forward Antouman Jallow added his first goal of the season.

The Timbers is 9-0-7 record since a loss in their season-opening match on April 25. They broke the previous record of 15 games set by the Montreal Impact, which opened the 2005 campaign with a 10-0-5 record.
