The USA went 3-0 in games against Canada during the recent under-20 and under-18 camps for girls national teams in Boulder, Colo.
The U-20s routed Canada's U-20s, 8-0, scoring six goals in
the first half -- three in the first 10 minutes. Forwards
Sydney Leroux and
Toni Pressley each scored twice while
Zakiya Bywaters,
Charney Burke,
Maya Hayes and
Samantha Mewis added single scores.
The second meeting two days later was a different story as the Americans edged Canada, 2-1, on goals from
Elizabeth Eddy and Leroux, the Golden Ball and Golden Shoe winner at the 2008 Under-20 Women's World Cup in Chile.
The U.S. U-18s also beat up on Canada's U-20s, winning,
5-1. They raced out to a 3-0 lead on goals by
Chioma Ubogagu,
Sam Johnson and
Mandy
Laddish (free kick from 25 yards out). In the second half,
Kaelia Ohai made it 4-0, Canada international
Jonelle
Filigno scored seconds later, but
Ahsha Smith later added a fifth goal for the Americans.
In other results, the U-20s lost to a Colorado
select team, 3-0, while the U-18s beat the Real Colorado Cougars, 2-1.
