Cooper Finally Gets European Transfer

FC Dallas forward Kenny Cooper, who has wanted to return to Europe for several seasons, has gotten his wish, moving to German second division club TSV 1860 Munich on a transfer pending a medical examination.

Cooper joined FC Dallas from Manchester United in 2006 and scored 40 goals in 93 appearances for Dallas. "Kenny has been an outstanding player for us over the last four seasons as well as a tremendous ambassador for FC Dallas in his time with the club, and we wish him the best in Munich," said general manager Michael Hitchcock. "Kenny indicated to us that he wanted to return to Europe when his contract expired next year. The timing of this transfer allows Kenny to continue his career overseas while providing our club with valuable resources for new acquisitions."

The value of the transfer deal was not disclosed. Cooper's transfer assures that there will again be at least one American on the 1860 first team. Josh Wolff returned to MLS last season, and Gregg Berhalter signed with the Los Angeles Galaxy from 1860 in the spring.
