Former U.S. defenders Agoos and Fawcett inducted

On Saturday, Burton Haimes and Cherie Tucker (AYSO), John Kennedy and Dave Boland (NISOA) and Gene Chyzowych and Cliff McCrath (NSCAA) were honored for extraordinary services and achievements with their respective organizations.

Agoos, who was presented for induction by his father Andy, is a five-time MLS champion.

He thanked high school coach Richard Monjoli, Dave Sarachan, first a roommate at the Maccabiah Games then an assistant coach when Agoos attended the University of Virginia, and college, professional and national team coach Bruce Arena, and Frank Yallop and Dominic Kinnear, his coaches with the San Jose Earthquakes.

Fawcett thanked U.S. Soccer for allowing her to live her dual dream of being a mom and of competing in soccer at the highest level.

"U.S. Soccer and their pioneering support of the women's game was instrumental in our success," the former Cal star said. "After 1994 and the birth of my first child, U.S. Soccer could have said 'No' to a newborn traveling with the team ... but they did the incredible thing in supporting me as a new mother and allowing me to realize my dream."

Fawcett is a two-time Women's World Cup champion, winning the top prize in international soccer in 1991 and 1999. She also has won two Olympic gold medals with the team in 1996 and 2004.
