Marquez likely miss Azteca showdown

[USA-MEXICO] Mexico national team captain Rafael Marquez tore a muscle in his left calf in practice Wednesday morning before Barcelona's game against MLS's Seattle Sounders FC and will be out for about two weeks, meaning he will likely to miss the Tri's crucial World Cup 2010 qualifier against the United States Aug. 12.

Marquez suffered the injury during light training at the University of Washington.

Suspension and injuries have kept Marquez, the leader of Mexico's backline, out of the last four qualifiers. He only played the opener against the USA, in which he was red carded for a foul on U.S. goalie Tim Howard.

Mexico is fourth in the Hexagonal, behind Costa Rica, the USA and Honduras.
