Sounders Strive to Stop Skid

In an effort to stem its recent run of poor form, the Seattle Sounders FC veterans took the first hour of Monday's training to refocus the team. They took turns sharing anecdotes about past struggles and the tactics they used to overcome them.

The Sounders were routed 4-0 by San Jose and 1-0 by Real Salt Lake in consecutive weekends. Said veteran Pete Vagenas, formerly of the Los Angeles Galaxy, "I've been on teams that have won MLS Cups; I've been on teams that have lost MLS Cups. The one thing the successful teams had was that their mental spirit was unbreakable. I won a double in 2005 and that team went through hell and back before we lifted the trophy.

"Looking back, no one talks about the strife and struggles from that year. All they remember is the two trophies we had at the end. That's what's important."
