Big weekend for London clubs

[ENGLAND] The Premier League's five London teams all won on the opening weekend of play. The biggest win was by Arsenal, which buried Tim Howard's Everton, 6-1, showing it hardly missed its high-scoring striker Emmanuel Adebayor sold (along with Gunner defender Kolo Toure) to Manchester City.

Spanish star Cesc Fabregas scored two second-half goals for the Gunners, but the game had lone been since decided.

Brazilian Denilson, Frenchman William Gallas and new Dutch signing Thomas Vermaelen had all scored in the first half. Croatian international Eduardo made it 6-0 before Louis Saha scored in the last minute.

''From before the game being ruled out by everybody to now become a super favorite, there's two extremes,'' Wenger said. ''It was an interesting first game.''

Arsenal's North London rival Tottenham beat the EPL's Merseyside other team, Liverpool (2-1).

Other London teams to win were Fulham (1-0 at Portsmouth), West Ham (2-0 at Wolverhampton) and Chelsea (2-1 over Hull City).
