Wayne Rooney is looking forward to proving wrong the critics who have questioned Manchester United's ability to win a fourth-straight league title, after the
departures of two high-profile playmakers. "Obviously we've lost two world-class players in
Cristiano [Ronaldo] and
Carlos
Tevez," Rooney told the Mirror. "We want to prove to everyone that we're worthy champions and that we can win the Premier League again this season. That's what we'll be trying to do. We're
working hard in training and hopefully we can do that. But we know we need to improve on that performance because we're a lot better than we showed against Birmingham [City]." Rooney, who has
established himself as a versatile player for United, is looking forward to playing a more central role this year. "I'm enjoying my football right now, and thankfully the manager has come out and
said he'll play me up front all season, so I'm really looking forward to that," revealed the England striker.
