Bordeaux carried its momentum from last season over to this one. The team won the final 11 games of last season to clinch the league title on the final day. On Sunday, Bordeaux extended its record
winning streak in the French league to 14 games with a 4-0 drubbing of Nice. Yoann Gourcuff
scored twice to give him four goals in three games. "(Gourcuff) has
carried on where he left off last season," Bordeaux coach Laurent Blanc
said. "He is more experienced now, his role is well defined and his teammates understand how he
plays. He runs the show. Bordeaux relies on Gourcuff, and that's normal."
Brazilian winger Jussie
and midfielder Alou Diarra
the other two goals, all clinical. "We wear our opponents down. Our opponents chase after the ball and it ends up tiring them out," Gourcuff said. "That creates space for us and helps
us score more easily."
