Man City Now Stocking Defenders

Manchester City hasn't finished yet with its big-spending summer overhaul of players. The club confirmed that it reached an agreement with Everton to buy defender Joleon Lescott for $36 million. "The move is subject to the player agreeing personal terms and passing a medical," reads Manchester City's web site.

Lescott has been a longtime target of City's manager, Mark Hughes, and handed in a transfer request to force through a move after Everton's manager, David Moyes, had refused to sell him.

Lescott joins a lengthy list of expensive signings at City this summer, following Emmanuel Adebayor (from Arsenal $41 million transfer fee), Carlos Tevez (Manchester United/$41 million), Kolo Toure (Arsenal/$23 million), Gareth Barry ($19.8 million) and Roque Santa Cruz ($30 million/Blackburn). City also announced the signing of veteran defender Sylvinho, released by Barcelona at the end of last season.
