The Los Angeles Galaxy and Chivas USA have as heated a rivalry as you'll find in MLS. In a token offer of peace and reconciliation, the two rival supporter groups, Chivas USA's Union
Ultras and the Galaxy's Angel City Brigade, scheduled an exhibition match to be played prior to the Superclasico at the Home Depot Center on August 29th. After weeks of preparation, however,
the match was canceled, just two days prior to the kickoff.
According to The Examiner, the Home Depot Center's management canceled the match to prevent conflict between the two
groups. The irony of this decision, justified for the same reason that supporters scheduled the match, isn't lost on either fan group. "We basically decided to use open dialog and open
access between the groups to avoid the misunderstandings that lead to violence", said Union Ultras member "Gameface
." "We understand that the growth of
supporters groups in MLS would be destroyed by violence. These groups (Ultras and Brigade) practice what they preach".
