Saad joins Wolves for senior year

Soony Saad, the 2008 Under-15/16 Development Academy Player of the Year, is returning to Dearborn, Mich., for his senior year of high school but will play for the Derby County Wolves, not Vardar, which he left last fall to enter the U.S. U-17 resident program.

He had previously played for the Wolves, winners of the 2009 U-15/16 Development Academy championship, earlier in his career.

"I lived in Bradenton, Fla., last year, playing on the U-17 national team," Saad told the Detroit News. "It was a great, wonderful experience. I trained every day, six days a week, and we played in France, Argentina and Chile. I definitely got the chance to see what soccer is like in different countries. They live for soccer in those countries, eat it, sleep it, everything. You could tell on the field, too. They seemed to always be thinking one step ahead of us."

He returned to Dearborn High School which he left in the middle of the 2008 fall season to move to Bradenton.

He plans on attending Michigan, where his brother Hamoody is a freshman.

Soony Saad heads what is again another excellent senior class for Michigan soccer.
