Dynamo and Wizards swap strikers

Kei Kamara is on the move again. The man of many teams will join the fourth team of his rather brief MLS career in a swap of strikers announced Tuesday, the MLS roster freeze date and trade deadline.

Houston sent Kamara, 25, to Kansas City in exchange for Abe Thompson, 27, and allocation money. Since 2006, Kamara has played for Columbus, San Jose, Houston and now the Wizards.

The Crew drafted the native of Sierra Leone out of Cal State Dominguez Hills in 2006, and though he set a career high with five goals for Houston this season, was deemed expendable due to a contract about to expire, the Dynamo's acquisition of Mexican striker Luis Angel Landin and the return to fitness of Cam Weaver. Kamara has scored 14 goals and registered three assists in 80 games (50 starts) during his MLS career.

Thompson, who played his college ball at Maryland, started his pro career with Dallas in 2005, and was traded to Kansas City in the middle of the 2008 season. He played eight games, starting one, for Kansas City this season without recording a goal or an assist. His career stats are 85 games (40 starts), 14 goals and 12 assists.
