Schalke midfielder and U.S. national team prospect
Jermaine Jones, who suffered a hairline fracture in his shin over two months ago, will forgo additional surgery according to
Schalke's website. Jones will spend the next three weeks working with the team's physiotherapy department in an attempt to overcome pain caused by a metal plate inserted during surgery in
late June. The news means that Jones could recover by mid to late October, returning to action much earlier than if he required a second surgery. Ives Galarcep theorizes that if all goes well
Jones could get a national team call-up in November or January, assuming FIFA finalizes his application for changing national teams.
