Conference races remain tight

[MLS] David Beckham's second goal of the season powered the Los Angeles Galaxy to a 2-0 win over Toronto FC on Saturday night and kept it within two points of the Houston Dynamo in the battle for the lead in the Western Conference. On Sunday, the Columbus Crew tied Chicago Fire, 2-2, in the Eastern Conference's top-of-the-table clash and held on to its three-point lead with a game in hand.

In the race for the four wildcard berths, the weekend's losers were Toronto FC, Real Salt Lake, which fell to Houston, 3-2, and New England, which was held to a 1-1 tie by New York. Four points separated the seven teams in contention.
