20. The San Jose Earthquakes beat D.C. United, 2-1, at RFK Stadium to break a 20-game MLS road winless streak, which was the second worst in league history to the New York Red Bulls current 25-game run of futility.
SHALRIE JOSEPH. Fredy Montero scored his 12th goal of the season in the sixth minute with a 30-yard strike but the Seattle Sounders' playoff quest suffered a blow when they lost, 2-1, at New England, thanks to a 51st minute penalty kick and a headed goal in the 87th minute by midfielder Shalrie Joseph, whose eight goals this year are his most in his seven seasons.
24. The Columbus Crew's extended league-record home unbeaten streak to 24 matches with a 2-0 victory over the Los Angeles Galaxy on goals by Eddie Gaven and Steven Lenhart. The defending champ's unequaled run includes 22 regular-season and two playoff games.
SACHA KLJESTAN. The Chivas USA midfielder scored from long-range against the lowly New York Red Bulls but shot wide on a stoppage time penalty kick as his team settled for a 1-1 tie at the Home Depot Center.
15. FC Dallas' Jeff Cunningham moved into a tie for league leading scorer with Colorado's Conor Casey by scoring two goals in FC Dallas' 3-0 win over Real Salt Lake. Cunningham now has 119 career MLS goals.
BRIAN McBRIDE. The veteran striker scored his first goal since his two-month injury layoff and it was a big one. He headed home a Justin Mapp service to earn the Fire a 2-2 tie with Toronto FC. It was McBride's seventh goal of the season.
3. The Colorado Rapids played a scoreless tie with Kansas City for their third draw in a row and fourth game without a win.
