Giovani Dos Santos

has been one of Mexico's most electrifying players over the summer, playing a crucial role in the country's turnaround in its World Cup qualifying campaign.
But Dos Santos will miss Mexico's final two qualifying games against El Salvador and Trinidad & Tobago.
An ankle injury that Dos Santos sustained while playing for Tottenham
will take weeks to heal. "He has a problem with a tendon in his left ankle, and it's something that could keep him out for three weeks," Mexico federation executive Nestor De La
said. "So he won't be on the roster. The recovery time won't allow it."
Veteran Cuauhtemoc Blanco
, meanwhile, is expected to recover
from a hamstring injury in time to participate in Mexico's final qualifiers. "It's not as serious as it seems, in fact he's said so himself," De La Torre said of the Chicago Fire
attacker's injury. "I don't think there would be a problem with him joining us." Mexico can clinch a spot in the World Cup with a win over El Salvador on Oct. 10.
