Schalke midfielder Jermaine Jones
has undergone surgery that will sideline him for at least six more weeks, the German newspaper Bild reported on Wednesday. The surgery removed a
metal plate in Jones' leg that he received from an earlier surgery in June to repair a shin injury. Causing Jones pain, the metal plate prevented him from returning to training earlier this
The delay in recovery could endanger Jones' chances of making it into the USA's 2010 World Cup squad. Jones will not be able to participate in any of the States'
potential November international friendlies. Jones was born and raised in Germany but is eligible to play for the USA because his father is American.
