Benched Luca Toni Expresses Interest in Napoli

This summer Bayern Munich striker Luca Toni made clear that he would consider leaving the club if he failed to become a regular starter, and this is the scenario playing out so far this season. The 32-year-old has struggled to find playing time under Bayern boss Louis Van Gaal, who has a slew of other attacking options available, such as Arjen Robben, Frank Ribery, Miroslav Klose, Ivica Olic and Mario Gomez.

A reported target of AC Milan and Napoli in the January transfer window, Toni admitted his interest in Napoli. "Napoli is an important club," Toni said. "They have great fans. Club president Aurelio De Laurentiis has big ideas so we shall see what happens. It's still early days." Toni said he would like to play along Napoli's attacking duo of Fabio Quagliarella and Ezequiel Lavezzi at Napoli. "Quagliarella and Lavezzi are two great strikers," said Toni. "Together with them I would feel great and we would make up a very good attacking trio."
