MLS Kiwis move closer to South Africa

[WORLD CUP 2010 QUALIFYING] With three current or former MLS players in the starting lineup, New Zealand moved closer to a berth in the World Cup finals Saturday when the Oceania champion held Asian playoff winner Bahrain to a 0-0 tie in front of a soldout 35,000-seat National Stadium in Manama.

San Jose Earthquake Simon Elliot and former MLS players Ryan Nelsen and Tony Lochhead started for the Kiwis.

The second leg is on Nov. 14 in Wellington.
