Ching Ejected for Second Home Game in a Row

Red cards continue to plague the Houston Dynamo. Veteran Brian Ching picked up his second red card in as many home games during Sunday's 0-0 draw against the Los Angeles Galaxy.

Following a hard tackle by David Beckham on Dynamo midfielder Ricardo Clark, Ching was given a yellow card for arguing with referee Kevin Stott. Then Ching rashly struck a Galaxy player. "I touched a guy in the face, and the refs saw it and gave me a red card," Ching said. "Stupid play on my part, but it was an intense game. It was a stupid play on my part and two red cards in the last two [home] games doesn't look good. I let my team down, but better now than come playoff time."

Ching will miss the Dynamo's last game of the season, a game the Dynamo need to have a chance at home-field advantage in the first round of the playoffs. "It's not because it is Brian Ching," Dynamo coach Dominic Kinnear said of the red card. "It's because it is a player who plays, who is an important player. And if you look at the guys who have been red-carded, they are all important players. They are guys that play significant and important minutes for us. And today, it's not just about the six minutes that he missed. It's 90 next week. We've talked about it, but I can't put an earpiece in their ear and tell them to just walk away from situations. Our guy just made a bad decision today."
