[WPS] The Boston Breakers' rebuilding campaign has begun with the signing of a pair of FC Gold Pride free agents, U.S. national team veteran
Leslie Osborne and
Tiffany Weimer.
Osborne made a successful comeback following knee and ankle
surgeries that kept her out of the 2008 Olympics. She captained FC Gold Pride in 2009, starting in 18 of 20 matches and leading the team with 1,622 minutes of playing time.
Osborne,
who is spending the offseason with her boyfriend, a pro basketball player, in Germany, is expected to start at defensive midfielder, a position where several different players were rotated during
the 2009 season.
Weimer returns home to New England, where she played in the WPSL for Breakers coach
Tony DiCicco's SoccerPlus FC in her
native Connecticut.
She started 10 games as a winger for the Gold Pride.
Like the Gold Pride, the Breakers failed to make the playoffs in 2009.
