No. 1 Stanford survives scare at Washington State

WOMEN'S NEWS ... Stanford got its biggest scare of the season when it needed an overtime goal from senior Kelley O'Hara to beat No. 21 Washington State, 2-1, in Pullman on Friday afternoon.

The Cardinal (16-0-0) fell behind in the 54th minute on a goal by Kiersten Dallstream -- the first goal it has given up in the run in 13 matches. But O'Hara set up Cristen Press for the equalizer in the 87th minute and jumped over a defender to head home Lindsay Taylor's cross at point-blank range five minutes into overtime.

"It wasn't that we were flat, but we were away from home, playing in wet conditions and we were out of our comfort zone," Stanford coach Paul Ratcliffe said. "But give them credit. They're a good team."

-- Friday night's biggest upset took place in the Pac-10, where No. 9 USC fell at home to Oregon State, 2-1. The Beavers came back from 1-0 down at the half and won on goals by Melissa Peck and Red Nixon.
