U.S. forward
Jozy Altidore was left off the Hull City squad on Saturday for arriving late at the stadium. Now Altidore's public apology for the incident, which he tweeted to fans,
has landed him in even more trouble with his club. Altidore wrote on his Tweeter account, "Apologize to all of you. I showed up late. Made a big mistake. I'm very very sorry."
For Hull manager
Phil Brown, both Altidore's tardiness and apology deserve punishment. "It's unacceptable behavior, full stop," he said. "You prepare
all week for a match day, mentally and physically. To ask a player to arrive an hour and a half before a game is not too much to ask is it?"
Of Altidore's public apology,
Brown said it should have remained private. "It's going to cost him a lot of money, unfortunately," Brown said. "That for me is information that stays in house. The reason he
wasn't on the bench was our business."
