COLLEGE: NCAA Division I Women's Tournament Quarterfinal Previews

NORTH CAROLINA-FLORIDA STATE. The Heels own the series, winning 17 of 18 times, including a 4-1 decision earlier this season. UNCÆs Lindsay Tarpley has back-to-back hat tricks. Kickoff: Friday, 3 pm ET.

PORTLAND-NOTRE DAME. The top-ranked Pilots, undefeated in 22 games, face the Irish, who bring a 13-game winning streak into a match. UP's Christine Sinclair still needs one more goal to set the NCAA Division I women's record for goals in a season. She has 37, tying former SMU player Lisa Cole's record. Portland TV station UPN 49 picked up the game after it sold out in six minutes. Last year, Notre Dame won 3-1 in the quarterfinals en route to the national title. Kickoff: Friday, 7 pm PT.

UCLA-VIRGINIA. The Bruins lead all teams with 16 goals in their first three tournament games. Canadian freshman Kara Lang has scored two goals in each game. Freshman Jess Rostedt has three goals in VirginiaÆs last two games. Kickoff: Friday, 6 pm PT.

PENN STATE-SANTA CLARA. Tiffany Weimer leads the Nittany Lions with 31 goals, but theyÆve had a balanced attack in postseason play. Six different players scored against Bucknell; five different players scored against West Virginia. SCU returns the quarterfinals for the 11th straight year. Kickoff: Friday, 4 pm ET.
