Defoe ties EPL record with five goals in Spurs' 9-1 win

Jermain Defoe got all the attention after Tottenham's record-tying 9-1 win over Wigan on Sunday in the English Premier League, but there was a lot of credit to go around after the Spurs won with eight second-half goals. Defoe scored a hat trick in seven minutes and scored five goals, all after halftime, to tie the EPL record for goals in a game held by Andy Cole and Alan Shearer. Aaron Lennon, back from an ankle injury, and Niko Kranjcar were superb on the wings, while Tom Huddlestone and Wilson Palacios dominated in midfield.
