Los Angeles, CA - In a rematch of the 2006 NCAA Championship game, it was UCLA who came away with the 2-1 victory over UC Santa Barbara, advancing to the NCAA quarterfinals to
face Wake Forest.
The Bruins got two unanswered goals after David Walker

UCLA went ahead 2-1 in the 37th minute after a steal by Kyle Nakazawa
at midfield. Hollingshead and Nakazawa played a nifty give-and-go
near the top of the box, and Hollingshead finished with a shot to the right corner that gave the Bruins the lead they would not relinquish.
UC Santa Barbara pushed the attack in the
second half, looking for the equalizer, but Bruin keeper Brian Perk was up to the challenge, making saves on a hard shot by Josue Madueno
and on Luis Silva
's shot in the last minute.
"Perk is a great goalkeeper and our [U.S.] under-20 goalkeeper for a reason," Walker said. "But we also made
it easy for him - we kicked balls right at him. These are things we'll need to develop next year."
The win improved UCLA's record against UCSB to 31-3-2, though the Gauchos won the most
important matchup between the two teams in the 2006 NCAA championship game, 2-1.
UCLA seniors David Estrada
, Michael Stephens
and Nakazawa played the full 90 minutes three years in freezing temperatures in St. Louis. Sean Alvarado
also saw action in
the game. Only one Gaucho who played in the 2006 game remains -- Walker, who came off the bench for that contest.
"We have a pretty big core of seniors on our team, and it was in the back
of our heads tonight," said Nakazawa. "It is a bit of redemption ... with a way better ending." Nov. 29 in Los Angeles UCLA 2 UC Santa Barbara 1. Goals:
