Cruz Azul will face Morelia (first leg, Wednesday) and Monterrey will clash with Toluca (Thursday) in the Mexican Apertura semifinals. No. 1 seed Toloca eked past 12th seeded San Luis, tying 1-1 on
aggregate and advancing thanks to its superior regular-season record. Morelia beat Santos 3-0 and advanced, 4-2, on aggregate. Monterrey downed Club America, 2-1, on aggregate. Cruz Azul was a 7-6
aggregate winner over Puebla. Cruz Azul, which has not won a league title since 1997, was the runner-up in the two 2008 tournaments.
