[NCAA DIVISION II WOMEN] No. 1 West Florida and No. 2 Saint Rose came into the NCAA Division II women's
semifinals with perfect records but both fell in stunning fashion. Grand Valley State came back from 2-0 down after three minutes to beat Saint Rose, while Cal State Dominguez Hills beat West
Florida in a shootout after their game ended in a 1-1 tie.
Saint Rose, which had only given up six goals in its previous 23 games, appeared headed to the final after taking a 2-0 lead on
goals by
Nicola D'Errico and
Brittany Godin, but Grand Valley State equalized on goals by
Erin Mruz and
Jaleen Dingledine and won the game on
Kristen Eible's golden goal.
Dominguez's
win put Coach
Joe Flanagan in a Division II final for the second year in a row. He won the men's title with the Toros in 2008. Jamaican
Shakira Duncan had put West Florida ahead but
Yadira Gomez tied the score for CSUDH.
