[UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE] Cristiano Ronaldo
's second game against Marseille turned out better than his first one did.
Ronaldo, sidelined for two months after being taken out by Senegalese defender Souleymane Diawara
in the first game in Madrid, scored twice in a magnificent
effort to lead Real to a 3-1 win Tuesday at the Stade Velodrome and a place in the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League. Ronaldo's return could not come at a better time, what with Kaka
out until January with a groin injury.
Ronaldo's two goals made him the Champions League's top scorer with six goals. He opened the
scoring in the fifth minute with a free kick from 30 yards and added a late insurance goal. He also hit the post and had another effort fisted out by goalie Steve
scored what proved to be the winning goal for Real in the 60th minute.
Argentine Lucho Gonzalez
scored in the first half for OM to tie the score but missed a chance to put the French club level again in the second half when he failed to convert
a penalty kick.
