The clubs that have reached the knockout stage of the UEFA Champions League have earned an average of $72 million according a MasterCard study. The revenues are up despite the economic downturn. The
income comes from participation and prize monies, UEFA and club commercial revenues, ticket sales and increased squad values. Larger TV audiences are one reason cited for the boost in revenue.
