[FIFA AWARDS] A day after he scored the winning goal in Barcelona's 2-1 overtime win over Estudiantes in the Club World Cup final for its sixth trophy of the season, Argentina Lionel Messi completed an individual double, winning the FIFA World Player of the Year award to go along with his Golden Ball he won in early December.

Messi, who was also instrumental in leading Barcelona to titles in La Liga, the Copa del Rey, UEFA Champions League and two Super Cups, obtained 1,073 points in voting by the coaches and captains of 147 national teams.
