U.S. under-20 national team midfielder Jared Jeffrey
has joined Germany's Mainz from Belgium's
Club Brugge. The transfer will be finalized when the January transfer window opens on Monday.
Jeffrey, a product of the Dallas Texans, left the U.S. under-17 residency program after
captaining the USA at the 2007 Under-17 World Cup and signed a three-year contract with Club Brugge. He also started for the USA at the 2009 Under-20 World Cup.
He has been a member
of Club Brugge's first team but has never appeared in a league game.
Nevertheless, Mainz coach Thomas Tuchel
called the 19-year-old Jeffrey "a
very good talent with lots of potential."
