Danny Mwanga, the 2009 Pac-10 Player of the Year as a sophomore at Oregon State, signed a Generation Adidas contract with Major League Soccer.
Mwanga looked into joining a European team but was swayed by MLS's offer of a Generation Adidas contract for two years with two years of options.
Mwanga was born and raised in the
war-torn Democratic Republic of the Congo. His father was killed and his mother moved to Oregon, where he was reunited with her in 2006. He spent two seasons at OSU after graduating from
Jefferson High School in North Portland.
