Ruiz stars in Dallas homecoming

[INTERLIGA] Former MLS star Carlos Ruiz returned to Pizza Hut Park, where he starred for FC Dallas, and scored twice to lead Puebla to a 4-1 win over Tigres on Sunday in the opening of the 2010 InterLiga, Mexico's qualifying tournament for the Copa Libertadores, South America's equivalent of Europe's Champions League.

Ruiz, who scored 31 goals in 68 MLS games with FC Dallas. scored twice after Alavaro Gonzalez had two goals of his own to erase Tigres' 1-0 lead.

"I still think of this as my home," Ruiz said. "My family lives here and for me, it was great to see my family in the stands and watch me play. Maybe one day I can come back here and play again for FC Dallas."

Monterrey and Jaguares played to a 0-0 tie in Sunday's second game in Frisco, where only 4,148 fans turned out of a cold day.

On Saturday, Atlante beat UAG, 2-1, while Club America dominated Santos, 3-1, in chilly weather before 10,037 fans at Houston's Robertson Stadium.
