Cullen reunited with Payne at West Point

[ARMY MEN] Leo Cullen, the No. 1 pick in the 1998 MLS SuperDraft, is headed to Army as an assistant under former Maryland teammate Russell Payne, the Black Knights' new head coach.

"I'm beyond thrilled by the opportunity to join Coach Payne's staff at West Point," said Cullen. "Given my appreciation for a college experience balanced with high-level academics and high-level athletics, I couldn't be more excited to join an environment that truly offers both and much more."

Cullen was the first player selected in the 1998 MLS SuperDraft by the expansion Miami Fusion. He later played for the New England Revolution and Colorado Rapids and earned three international caps with the USA.

He took a season off between his stints with the Revs and Rapids to return to Maryland and complete a bachelor's degree in economics in 2004.

Cullen comes to Army after serving as Director of Client Services with Wasserman Media Group (WMG) where he managed and represented professional soccer players from the United States as well as internationally since 2006.
