Algeria's Desert Foxes are gaining in strength

[AFRICA CUP OF NATIONS] A 0-0 with host Angola on Monday in Luanda was enough to keep Algeria alive at the African Nations Cup. Mali's 3-1 win over Malawi in the Group A finale meant that Algeria and Mali tied for second place and Algeria advanced on the first tiebreaker -- head-to-head.

Angola won the group with five points and will stay in Luanda for the quarterfinals.

Advancement was a huge relief for Algerian coach Rabah Saadane after the Desert Foxes' embarrassing 3-0 loss to Malawi in the opener.

"We had our chances and we showed we are progressing game and game," Saadane said. "Every match we've got better."
