American boss denies talk of Derby crisis

Tom Glick, Derby County's American chief executive, blasted a report that the English second division club is for sale and must sell its top players by the end of the month. Detroit-based General Sports & Entertainment Group heads the international consortium that bought Derby two years ago and has worked to reduce its debt.

"No, we are not in financial crisis," said Glick. "We are on a very sound footing and that is at a time when football clubs up and down the country are in financial crisis. We are not in a position where we need to sell players."

Glick said the Derby ownership group has no secrets to hide. "We have talked about [reducing] debt levels and we have talked about [lowering] wage bills."
