[COPA CHIVAS] Juan Agudelo, a product of the New York Red Bulls academy team and the U.S. under-17 residency
program, scored to give the U.S. under-18 national team a 1-1 tie with Brazil's under-16 national team on Day 2 of the Copa Chivas in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Next up for the USA is Mexico's Tigres, which started three Americans -- U.S. U-18s Juan Pablo Ocegueda and Orr Baroush and former U-17 Victor Garza -- in its 1-0 win over Pachuca on Saturday. Tigres has eight Americans in its youth system.
Chivas USA picked up its first win with a 2-0 win over FC Tokyo on goals by Ruben Gonzalez and Bryan de la Fuente.
The Houston Dynamo fell to Japan's under-18 national team, 4-1. Chibuzo Odenigwe scored in the 5th minute to give the Dynamo the lead against
Japan, which responded with four unanswered goals.
On Day 1, the U.S. under-19 national team, Chivas USA and the Houston Dynamo all lost. In the best performance, Chivas USA was edged by Mexico's U-17 national team, 1-0.
Each team plays five group games in the 18-team competition.
The Copa Chivas is open to under-18 players, though each team can carry three under-19 players on their roster.
