Chivas USA head coach Martin Vasquez
, who was hired in December to replace Preki
, has named Carlos Juarez
and Daniel Gonzalez
to his coaching staff. They join holdover assistant coach Carlos Llamosa
Juarez, who served as a staff
coach for the U.S. Soccer Federation since 1989, was a teammate of Vasquez's at Cal State L.A. Juarez hired Vasquez as an assistant at Cal Poly Pomona, where Juarez coached its men's and women's teams
1997-2000, and with the WUSA's San Diego Spirit, which Juarez coached in 2000-02. Juarez was most recently technical director Claremont Stars youth club.
Theslof joins Chivas USA after
having served with Vasquez on Juergen Klinsmann
's staff at FC Bayern Munich as an assistant coach and international scout in 2008-09. Theslof served as the head coach and general
manager for the Orange County Blue Star of the Premier Development League from 2002-2007.
Goalkeeper coach Gonzalez, a native of Argentina who played for Rosario, served as the goalkeeper
coach for the Colorado Rapids in 2000-2003.
Llamosa returns for his second season as an assistant coach for Chivas USA. The Colombian-born Llamosa played in MLS in 1997-2007, including
his final two seasons with Chivas USA. He made 29 appearances for the USA after gaining U.S. citizenship in 1998. He won two MLS Cups (1997, 1999) with D.C. United.
