Leroux scores again for victorious Americans

[UNDER-20 CONCACAF WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP] Goals by Sydney Leroux with her fifth in three games and Vicki DiMartino were enough to give the USA a 2-1 win over Mexico in their group finale at the Under-20 Women's Championship in Guatemala City.

The Tri's lone goal was scored by Stanford freshman Alina Garciamendez, one of five U.S. collegians or prep stars in its starting lineup. Mexico gave the USA its toughest test yet, hitting 10 shots, including a shot off the top of the crossbar in the 72nd minute.

The USA moves into Thursday's semifinals against Group B runner-up Costa Rica (TV: Fox Soccer Channel, live, 2:30 pm ET).

The semifinal winners and third-place game winner advance to the 2010 Under-20 Women's World Cup in Germany.
