Quakes to get training home of their own

The San Jose Earthquakes will finally have their own training center, a $1.2 million facility with a grass field, located next to the proposed site of their soccer stadium across from Mineta San Jose International Airport.

The Quakes spent the past two seasons training at sites at Santa Clara University and West Valley College. They opened preseason camp at the Oakland Coliseum this week.

"It's the first step of many things to come," San Jose coach Frank Yallop said Wednesday. The Quakes have plans for a 15,000-seat stadium to be built at a cost of $60 million.
