John Terry will remain England captain, according to its coach,
Fabio Capello, despite the news that Terry had an
affair with the
Vanessa Perroncel, the mother of England teammate
Wayne Bridge's child.
"There has been no
discussion about him not being captain of Chelsea," Capello said shortly after Terry's goal gave EPL leader Chelsea a 2-1 win over Burnley on Saturday. "I don't know why you are asking me this
question."
Following the revelation of Terry's affair, reports immediately surfaced that he could be stripped of his England captaincy. Terry's Chelsea manager,
Carlo Ancelotti, was bewildered by the attention to the Terry affair and backed his star. "The professionalism of John Terry improves the club," he said. "He scored the winning goal
and as a manager that is what is important."
