[INDIANA MEN] Todd Yeagley and
Brian Maisonneuve will be reunited at
Indiana University, where they starred in the early 1990s. Yeagley, recently appointed as the new IU head coach, hired Maisonneuve and
Ernie Yarborough as assistant coaches.
Maisonneuve returns to Bloomington after a two-year stint as assistant coach at Louisville. Prior to Louisville, Maisonneuve spent four years as an assistant coach with the U.S. U-17 national team
in Bradenton, Fla.
Maisonneuve and Yeagley played together at IU and with the Columbus Crew in MLS. In 1994, Maisonneuve won the Hermann Trophy, while Yeagley captured the MAC Award.
Maisonneuve spent nine seasons with the Crew and was a member of the 1998 U.S. World Cup team. He was also a member of the 1996 U.S. Olympic team, leading the squad with a pair of goals in the
tournament.
"This is home for me," Maisonneuve said. "Being here for my college career meant a lot and the relationships I have built with Coach
[Jerry]
Yeagley, with Todd and Ernie and the support staff, it really became home for me. To have the opportunity to come home and coach meant a tremendous amount to me. This is arguably the best
program in the country, and being part of the IU family again with the facilities, the players, to help continue to build the program is something special and it meant a lot to me and my family to
return to Bloomington."
Yarborough comes to Indiana after spending one season as an assistant coach to Yeagley at Wisconsin. Prior to that he spent two seasons as an assistant coach at
UAB, working with IU alum Mike Getman. Yarborough is no stranger to the Big Ten as he spent seven seasons as the top assistant at Michigan.
